At present, most net surfers are using internet with data packages provided by telecommunication operators. Although some network providers support unlimited Wi-Fi access, the installation fees and monthly fees are expensive.
Ananda said they are selling a MiFi router with built-in battery and a 4G plus SIM card with the price of 35,000 MMK from May 25 with one month free use. Up to ten devices can connect to the router.
A 4G plus router with two-month unlimited free plan is selling with 65,000 MMK and up to 30 devices can connect to it. It is suitable for small and medium enterprises.
Although the network coverage has yet to reach every townships in Yangon, it manages to cater to most of them. Users are able to check the quality of network in their region themselves.
Other data packages are 7.5 GB per month for 5,400 MMK, 15GB per month for 10,000 MMK and 60 GB plan for 38,000 MMK for two months.
The Ministry called for a tender to grant 2600 MHz spectrum with 15 years lease in October 2016. Amara Communications won the tender for zone 3 which included Mandalay, Sagaing, Chin, Shan, Kachin and Kayah with $24.55 million and zone 2 which included Yangon, Ayeyawady and Rakhine with $95.81 million.
Ananda is planning to introduce its services in Mandalay, Ayayawady, Rakhine, Sagaing, Chin, Shan, Kachin and Kayah States and Regions.
